German composer Johann Pachelbel’s (1653-1706) Canon in D has become one of the best known classical music piece ever written. There has been no records as to when it was exactly composed but experts believe it to be written around 1680. However, the popularity of the song risen significantly in 1970s after French conductor Jean-François Paillard made a recording in 1968. Pachelbel’s Canon in D has also been used frequently in weddings to grace beautiful and blissful events.

Pachelbel’s good compositional technique was a result of writing over 500 pieces in his lifetime. Pachelbel used an ostinato (the same bass line repeated over and over again) and a canon (the same music repeated by the violin parts, in a round) to construct his masterpiece Canon in D.To
