Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 18.5: Pika Cup

Gotta' head back to the first island to do another Challenge Cup! This time for a Pika-Promo!

All the opponents here weren't too difficult to beat. We even got the easiest club master.

The Phantom Deck utilizes the Ghost Pokemon that typically don't do too much damage. Even the backups generally don't. The biggest one is Wigglytuff, in which case it could sweep you. But he seems to focus more on the Psychic Pokemon. He did do a fairly decent job fending me off with them though. Though mainly due to some flubs on my end. XD

The Rolling Stone deck is a very early game deck that is pretty easy to beat as well. The funny thing is that he's from the rock club, but his strongest Pokemon are probably the fire critters. They counter his grass weaknesses and do a lot of damage and/or are disruptive.

Then there's Gene who is the said easiest club master who also doesn't do much damage. :P Lots of HP though, so non-grass decks will have to outpace it's damage output utilizing other methods. But still. Even if you have to utilize switches to avoid price card losses it's not going to be too difficult of a fight. I "guess" he has the possibility of getting really lucky on the coin flips. But in which case as long as you are powering up something on the side to sweep, you should be good.

You may be sensing a pattern of power here. XD Because you see, none of them can sweep if they can't get a strong Pokemon out. Each one does have a few strong Pokemon, but not enough to yield consistency. For instance, say it takes you 2-3 of your Pokemon to get rid of one of their aces. If you have a consistently strong strategy, you'll catch right back up due to their otherwise-slow damage outputs.
