Outer space, also known as space or the cosmos, refers to the vast, seemingly infinite expanse that exists beyond Earth's atmosphere and between celestial bodies. It is the vast void that encompasses everything in the universe, including stars, planets, galaxies, and other celestial objects.

The boundary of outer space is not precisely defined but is commonly considered to begin at the Kármán line, which is approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) above sea level. Beyond this point, the atmosphere becomes extremely thin, and the distinction between Earth's atmosphere and the vacuum of space becomes more apparent.
