Weddings are very special occasions. There are no words that can describe the amount of joyful emotions coursing through the room while a bride is walked down an aisle, ready to start a completely new life. However, for some of us, those emotions might be tainted with a smidge of sadness.

In 1997, Katie's family was hit by a drunk driver. The drunk driver killed her father, Michael Brodeur and paralyzed her brother, Kyle Brodeur. Katie, her mother, Lisa Brodeur and sister, Kimberly were also badly injured. Eighteen years later, Katie married Tyler. She wanted to include her father in her wedding day even though she couldn't have the traditional father daughter dance. She danced with all the important men in her life to her father singing in the background with video clips. The video playing in the background of her and her father dancing was filmed the day of the car accident. She has been very close to her brother growing up and he walked her down the aisle and he had the first special dance with his sister.

Her mother Lisa Brodeur, wrote a book about their story called " A mother's journey through faith hope and courage." Her family does drunk driving presentations at high schools, drivers ed classes, and local DUI recovery classes.
