Electric Motor installation and testing! S1 EP19
We finally got to install our electric motor! It was a long time coming and definitely not the easiest but we got there... As with our first boat, there was not really anything wrong with our motor, it just didn't suit us. Electric is not for everyone, but, someday when we aren't trapped by our 9-5 we would love to live at a slower pace. The nice thing about a diesel or gas powered boat, is if you need to motor in light wind you can. Electric allows (forces) us to us to live more in tune with nature and keep a closer eye on the weather. It also forces us to be diligent sailors and really pay attention to things like sail trim.
We aren't really breaking any molds or really going way out on a limb with this conversion. People like Uma, the Pardey's, anyone before 1698 did not have what is currently a "traditional" boat. We know it can be done. Quite a few boat manufacturers are even selling this option on a new yacht. Most of the video is pretty self explanatory, but if you have questions or comments please let us know!
