David Cameron's Resignation Speech as Prime Minister at Number 10 Downing Street

David Cameron who was the Prime Minister of the UK and leader of the Conservative Party, was also part of the Vote Remain campaign for the Brexit referendum which took place on the 23rd June 2016.

52% of voters in the Brexit referendum voted to leave, with the remaining 48% voting for the United Kingdom to remain a member of the European Union.

After securing a majority in the general election which took place on the 7th May 2015, David Cameron announced his intention to step down on the 24th June 2016.

His resignation triggered the process to select a new leader for the Conservative Party and the UK's new Prime Minister.
