Overland Adventure Gone Wrong | Transmission Swap Mid Road Trip

Day one of our 2000km long road trip ended abruptly when The Yeti (a 1986 Toyota Pickup) decided he wanted a new transmission. We spent the next 36 hours getting some amazing help to swap a new (used) tranny into the truck. This experience tested us in a lot of ways. The kindness of others and their generosity brought us through to the other side to continue our journey. It's amazing to be pushed to the point of physical and mental exhaustion just to see what you're capable of achieving. I am not a mechanic, nor have I ever removed a transmission. But with a little faith, optimism and the help of strangers (also beer) we were able to make the this into an incredibly memorable adventure.

Side note... I (Matthew) had just picked up a brand new camera operating on a completely unfamiliar system (I'm used to shooting Nikon, this is a Sony). Naturally it took some getting used to and I messed up a few of the settings so the footage looks a little strange at times and none of the slow motion footage turned out - operator error! I've figured it out now... And the next videos will be that much better... And in 4K!
