Chandrashekhar Azad, also known as Azad, was a prominent Indian freedom fighter and revolutionary during the British colonial rule in India. He was born on July 23, 1906, in Bhavra, present-day Madhya Pradesh, India. Azad played a significant role in the Indian independence movement, especially during the 1920s and 1930s.

He was deeply influenced by the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi and participated actively in the Non-Cooperation Movement and Civil Disobedience Movement. However, after the Chauri Chaura incident in 1922, where a group of protestors clashed with the police, Azad realized the need for a more militant approach to achieve India's freedom.

He formed the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA) along with other revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Rajguru. The HSRA aimed to overthrow British rule through armed struggle and gain complete independence for India.

Chandrashekhar Azad was known for his exceptional leadership, courage, and determination. He evaded capture by the British authorities for a long time and became a symbol of resistance and fearlessness. Unfortunately, his life was cut short on February 27, 1931, during a fierce encounter with the police in Allahabad, where he chose to shoot himself rather than be captured.

His legacy continues to inspire generations of Indians, and he is remembered as a hero who fought fearlessly for the nation's freedom. Chandrashekhar Azad remains an iconic figure in India's struggle for independence.
