Moore was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 1952. He began playing guitar at a young age and was influenced by blues guitarists such as Peter Green, Eric Clapton, and B.B. King. In the early 1970s, he joined the band Skid Row, with whom he released two albums. He then joined Thin Lizzy, where he played with Phil Lynott and helped to define the band's sound.

After leaving Thin Lizzy in 1979, Moore embarked on a solo career. He released a string of successful albums, including "Still Got the Blues" (1990), "After Hours" (1992), and "Blues for Greeny" (1995). He also collaborated with a variety of artists, including BB King, Albert King, and Jack Bruce.

Moore died in 2011 at the age of 58. He was a highly respected and influential guitarist, and his music continues to be enjoyed by fans all over the world.
