The Vice President Maj. Rtd. Jessica Alupo has urged schools to revive patriotism clubs as a measure to help instill a sense of love for the country among students.
While presiding over the pass out of 1,490 patriots drawn from 17 secondary schools and 2 tertiary institutions within Katakwi district, the vice president said that introducing learners to Patriotism at an early age could help restrain students from involvement in vices likes; strikes, sectarianism, subversion and alcoholism.
She asked the student patriots to be selfless people, hardworking, responsible, enduring, sacrificing people, disciplined, nationalistic, unifiers, and developmental, peaceful people as opposed to violence, ready to volunteer and God fearing.
The vice president who had just concluded a tour of over 20 sub counties within Katakwi district, listening to people’s views, asked the security organs to tighten their belts to also fix the issue of cattle thefts conclusively.
