For a little after the fact context. I found while you can change your name, it's not something you can do until later. And it's not free. I don't think you have to pay real money to do it, but to be honest I'm not totally sure. I did kind of fall in love with this game and started another proper character on the Nirvana server. I did buy the two cheap one time starter packs, and that was enough combined with just playing the game to allow me to get a couple pretty powerful weapons/characters (it's kind of the same thing in this game) and build them up. I think I've got something like 20 to 30 hours logged now, and for some time nothing in the starting area can really stand up to me, not out on the map anyway. If you go into dungeons set to normal, that's a slightly different story.

Even more context. I think the game play is pretty fantastic, and at first I was digging the story and the characters, but they have started to ware on me. Part of that is because the game tries to force you to leave the starting area long before you've completed the story line. You can ignore it and complete the story if you want to, but there is a pretty big reveal that gets spoiled and you can't undo that. You also have to struggle against the game as it will constantly be trying to change your missions to the move on to the next area one and you have to actively keep finding and tracking the story ones, and you'll likely do some stuff out of order and miss some stuff. On top of that nonsense, there is a fair amount of jank and the game can be a bit buggy. MOSTLY, it doesn't really effect game play too much, but often mouth movement do not sync up with the audio, often the audio will cut out, or just not be there at all (for the voice acting that is).

And the sad truth is, I think the game is dying. This is a gacha action RPG MMO. But I almost never see anyone else in the starting areas. That's partly probably because of how they try to force you to move on. When it did it to me I thought maybe the game glitched and skipped a whole lot of story for me. OR, maybe something happened that was supposed to be a mystery I'd uncover later. But no, they try to make you skip a giant chunk of the story as an intended feature. I wouldn't mind if it was an option, but they don't tell you or give you a choice they just do it, and you have to actively work against it if you want to complete the story. Also, as I understand it it's a Chinese game, and the Chinese people have not embraced it. It's my understanding the global population is mostly stagnant and they are preparing to start merging servers. They are also coming out with a PS5 version, but it's being handled by another company and it will not interact with the PC or mobile versions at all.

I however do not care. I do really enjoy the game. And while I said I only bought those starter packs early on, that's not entirely true. I've actually pumped a little over $100 dollars into the game. But I got over powered before I did that, and I've not actually used those resources as of yet. The money is spent, but it still sits there unused on my account. All that is to say the game is actually pretty solid, but is flawed. I enjoy it, and I feel it's pretty friendly to it's player base. If you are a free to play guy or a low budget guy, you can still get into to this game and have a pretty good experience. You'll want to do your own research on the monetization and decide for yourself. But considering this game is only a year old and apparently was actually very massive for a few months, I had never heard of it and I bet many of you have not either. That's why I bring you the video.
