Multiple bus routes in #Baoding, a city in #Hebei Province with a population of over ten million, have been suspended due to financial difficulties.
Baoding Public Transport Co., Ltd. stated that since the outbreak of the #pandemic in early 2020, the passenger volume of buses has sharply decreased, and the operating income is less than 30% of normal operations. The company is facing severe financial constraints. The power batteries of the initial batch of purchased electric buses have exceeded the warranty period and pose safety risks. Therefore, they are unable to operate safely and have been forced to completely suspend operations, greatly impacting the public transportation capacity in the city.
Baoding, known as the "southern gateway" to the capital city #Beijing, has a resident population of 11.4372 million.
