A bit of history regarding this battle.
Some political battles are quite memorable. The first senate run against Thad Cochran required a run off. Thad wanted to let Chris have it but Haley Barbour said nope. There was a runoff election and it was a mess. There were a couple of black ministers that claimed they’d been stiffed on payments for getting out the black vote. It was probably assumed that there would be a deafening silence regarding all of that since it’s illegal to pay people for votes. But in that environment neither the stiffers or the stiffees got charged with any crimes. That story got buried very quickly. They were pointing to one of Barbours brothers as the perp. To me that was a new level of dimwittedness and corruption. I was floored. If you’re going to cheat don’t use stupid people, then I remembered an old adage about organizations. All organizations take on the personality of the person at the top. Don’t believe me? Look at the entire Biden administration. Seriously a luggage stealing nuclear power waste guru secretary kleptomaniac that has a trans mondo bondage dog fetish where he dresses like a girl and a dog? The whole Biden administration feels like a fever dream. The Barbours are special in so many ways.

Like I said the runoff was a disaster. It went to court and Delbert Hosemann then the secretary of state providing a model for future sleazy secretaries of State said the court case was just a distraction. The state Supreme court appointed a judge to review the case. What happened next was stunning. For the sake of clarity I’m going to put a *B* next to all Barbour appointees. You will understand why by the time I get to the end.

“On August 6, 2014, Joe Nosef, chairman of the Mississippi Republican Party, wrote a letter to Tyner stating that the GOP would not hear McDaniel's case because it had an insufficient amount of time to review the evidence and make a decision. Instead, Nosef encouraged McDaniel to take his complaint to court, stating, "the only way to ensure the integrity of the election process and provide a prudent review of this matter is in a court of law. The public judicial process will protect the rights of the voters as well as both candidates, and a proper decision will be made on behalf of our Party and our State."[8] McDaniel did as suggested, formally filing his election challenge on August 14 with the Jones County circuit court. The first part of the petition asked for an injunction "suspending and holding in abeyance the placement of Senator Cochran's name on the ballot for the General Election in November until such time as this Complaint can be heard." The latter part requested that "counties proved to have permitted widespread vote fraud and violations of Mississippi election law have their results from the June 24 primary runoff invalidated and removed from the statewide count." Moving forward, McDaniel submitted two options: to declare McDaniel the rightful winner or to call for a new runoff election.[9] The following day, the Mississippi Supreme Court appointed retired chancery judge, Hollis McGehee, to oversee the case.[10] McGehee quickly denied the first part of McDaniel's request, stating that because McDaniel did not sue Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, preparations of the ballot would continue as planned, using Cochran's name. Mississippi law allows for a new primary election to be called even after the general election has been held.[11]

Shortly after McDaniel filed the lawsuit, Cochran's attorneys filed papers requesting that the lawsuit be dismissed because McDaniel had filed the complaint too late. They cited a 1959 state Supreme Court ruling stating that candidates had only 20 days after a primary to challenge the election. Explicitly, the law applies only to challenges in county elections, but the 1959 ruling stated it should be assumed to apply to all elections, including state-wide. According to this standard, McDaniel would have had to have filed his complaint by July 27. He filed 21 days after this deadline.[12]”

On August 15, 2014 the Hattiesburg American wrote:

Joe Nosef was the head of the RNC in Mississippi during this time. What he did before is interesting too. He was appointed by Haley Barbour to be his chief counsel in 2004 he did that until he left and became Barbours campaign manager in 2006. He served as Bryants Chief of staff in 2008. He was appointed to The Commissin for a New Mississippi in2009 and served as chairman of Bryant’s successful bid for Governor in 2011. After the election he became executive director of Bryant’s transitional team. In 2012 the Republican party elected Nosef as the party chair. After 2014 he was called out and told he should resign by Tea Party officials twice.

Here is an excerpt discussing the reasons for Tea Party hostilities. I was very much aware of both of these incidents.

“Mississippi Tea Party leaders in 2014 insisted that Nosef apologize and resign after telling MSNBC’s Chris Matthews that Chris McDaniel, who had just narrowly lost to Sen. Thad Cochran in the 2014 Senate primary, could cost the party a Senate seat by speaking at a pro-gun rally alongside a segregationist vendor.

Nosef pushed back and refused to resign, citing his past efforts to bring unity to the establishment and Tea Party factions of the party.

In 2016, Mitch Tyner, a close ally of McDaniel, called for Nosef’s resignation after he said the chairman threatened to remove delegates from the meeting in effort to thwart a President Donald Trump nomination. Nosef blew off the call for resignation, saying, “This angle and this story is the opposite of the truth.”

I had a chance to go to caucus in 2016. All I can say is don’t send stupid people for that job! There are a lot of things that are decided there and you want intelligent people. If you send the wrong people, defeat will be snatched from the jaws of victory! I won’t say anything beyond that.

Now back to where Joe Nosef is these days.
In January 2017, Nosef was unanimously elected to lead the Southern Region of the Republican National Committee, serving as one of eight vice-chairmen of the national committee. The Southern Region is comprised of 14 states.

Katie Hobbs of Arizona and Brad Raffensperger of Georgia appear to have taken notice of what happened, because this secretary of state game spread like the Cat in the Hat’s pink stain. When Covid came along that was where the illegal changes to election laws were enacted. Hopefully those changes have been turned back and corrected.

DICKINSON, P.J. He was elected in 2002. He was later appointed by Gov Bryant in 2017 to Commissioner of the Department of Child Protection Services and Dickinson stepped down from the bench before the end of his term to accept the appointment.

David A. Chandler He won election and began his first term in 2009. He stepped down on December 7, 2015, to become the director of Mississippi's foster care system under the Division of Family and Children's Services.

Justice Randy Pierce his first and last term started in 2009. He left to become director of Mississippi Judicial College December 14, 2015.

So four of the justices involved in this decision didn’t run for election again. 2 didn’t have to because Bryant found other places for them to go. I kept waiting to find a replacement for them, but three dodged the decision by not participating and the one who dissented the opinion all left.

Here’s a bit on Hayley Barbour
Haley Barbour and his wife donated something like 5,000 to Delbert Hoseman’s Campaign and the employees of their organization donated something like 8,500. In case you don’t remember here’s a quick refresher. Haley Barbour was the head of the RNC when Clinton was in office. Before Bill reached his first midterm, people noticed that the DNC was already taking on a lot of money and gearing up to reelect Bill Clinton. The money was coming from China. It was an explosive revelation. Senator Inhoff told everybody that the RNC had better make sure they were clean before sounding the alarm. He said that because the Chinese are pretty sneaky. He was correct and the investigation was killed. It turned out that the RNC through Barbour had taken in about one fourth the amount that the DNC had. Barbour had ruined an opportunity to cut the head off of the encroaching Chinese snake. From that point forward whenever someone called Al Gore Clinton’s Chinese bag man Bill Clinton would point out that the only person that got into trouble over all of that ‘stuff’ was Barbour. Even then Democrats didn’t get into trouble. Haley was quietly removed from his position. He went home to Mississippi and became the governor. He was chairman of the RNC from 93 until 97. He was the Mississippi Governor from 2004 until 2012.

Just an extra aside on another Mississippi Republican that blew it regarding Clinton. Trent Lott. As Clinton’s impeachment moved into the senate Trent assured all of us the hearing would be in the open. Suddenly Larry Flynt the owner of Hustler magazine offered to pay cash for information on Clinton’s enemies. Several people had their careers ended because of that. Anybody that had a patina of decency that was tarnished had it amplified by the poster child for poor marksmanship. Some retired from politics and some from other professions and then their was Trent Lott. That open door Impeachment hearing was suddenly a closed door hearing. Few noticed that because Hillary was riding Camels in Arabia and Bubba was bombing Yugoslavia. The amusing part was that Wag the Dog came out at just the right time to accidentally smear Bill Clinton. Oh the Democrats and the evidence? Not one of them looked at it. Some things don’t change.

Now if you listen to the audio you can see what the left was afraid of. The Supreme court decided to go activist in 1973 with Roe V Wade. It was a massive overreach, which was finally curtailed. This opens the door to returning the US Federal system of governance to the original intent. Each state is an experiment and through that experiment the best model can be created for each area. One size does not fit all and anyone who says differently might be a democrat in or out of the closet.
