Senate passes annual defense policy bill, heads into negotiations with House

The Senate passed its version of the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act late Thursday night, moving the bill into the reconciliation process with House lawmakers to reach a compromise. The Senate’s version of the bill includes $886 billion in national defense funding, a 5.2% pay raise for service members, and extended security support for Ukraine through fiscal year 2027.
