The horrible end of a great African marabou.

An absurd birdstrike occurred last week in the city of Abyei, when the Mil Mi-8MTV of UTair Helicopter Services was preparing to fly to Wau carrying out a humanitarian flight commissioned by the UN mission in Sudan: shortly before departure, during helicopter systems, a marabou from the stork family inexplicably launched itself towards the rotor blades which left no way out for the bird.
The helicopter was much more fortunate - it was not damaged. None of the four crew members on board were injured and the aircraft managed to take off shortly after to undertake the humanitarian mission.
