We're all familiar with the Rat Race in Gun Culture. Call it Keeping Up with the Jones if you want, but the effect extends beyond gear. Got a rifle? Now you need to train with it. Train with your rifle? Now you need a plate carrier, then NODs, then lock picks, then radios and on and on and on.
At the same time, contentment can look an awful lot like complacency. Discernment will be necessary.
