Petition aims to change status of dogs from property to living beings

Dogs Are Not Toasters (DANT) is a petition drive aimed at changing the status of dogs across America from property to living beings. In most jurisdictions, pets are considered “property” and have no legal protection, trailing behind many other countries. This goal is to change legislation nationwide to recognize dogs as living beings. If the law cannot be changed on a federal level this petition will endeavor to change the law state by state. This will be achieved by inundating the U.S. government with signatures and raising capital to ensure the success of DANT’s objective.
