La bandera de Barcelona ya ondea junto a la de Nueva Zelanda en la base de Emirates Team New Zealand, el equipo Defensor de la America's Cup. En un acto cargado de simbolismo, la capital catalana ha querido agradecer al equipo neozelandés la selección de la ciudad como sede de la 37a America's Cup. El alcalde, Jaume Collboni, ha entregado una bandera de la ciudad al CEO de Emirates Team New Zealand, Grant Dalton.
