The ATH-M50X headphones are a popular choice for studio use. They are closed-back, so you can use them for tracking without sound bleeding into live microphones.

The sound is deep and fresh - though not exactly flat. There is a definite boost in the low end, but they are very punchy and clear.

You can twist these phones around like DJ style headphones, and they will collapse down for easy travel.

One of the best features of the ATH-M50X is that it uses detachable cables. This should be a feature of ALL headphones!
Accidents happen, cables get damaged. With normal headphones you'd have to throw out the entire unit. But with the ATH-M50X you can simply replace the cable.

Being that the ATH-M50X's are so popular, you'll find profiles for them in most Virtual Mix Room plugins like Waves NX. So you can mix with these headphones provided you use some kind of Virtual Mix Room plugin.

Overall, they sound great, are comfortable to wear, and they look awesome.
