I had just turned 50 the day before my stroke. Until the stroke I worked as a corporate accountant for the prior 25 years And I was an avid motorcycle rider and trail hiker in Georgia. Where I still live. Due to impairments from the stroke I no longer ride or drive but I know I will again one day it’s Been 4 years now since the stroke things I’ve lost most of the use of my left arm. I can move it during no fine motor control and a lost of my reading ability I get lost on the page to easily.

But now years later Scott is driving independently! WOW!

Driving after a stroke is certainly a possibility. Stroke survivors definitely should discuss this with their healthcare provider. Get a referral for occupational therapy, especially one that specializes in addressing driving. Resources such as www.ADED.net, and www.AOTA.org, are where you can find professionals who have further training in the field of driving rehabilitation. Every state has different licensing requirements for returning to driving after a medical event, and also different licensing requirements for modifying a vehicle with equipment, such as the steering device that Scott mentioned in the video. Every stroke affects each person in different ways. Reach out to your healthcare provider and the above websites to find the professionals who can help you fulfill your goals!
