American Corporations are Exporting Uranium to the Russian Federation

Earlier this year, the U.S. NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission), issued export licenses –destined to the Russian Federation– to three American corporations: TN Americas, formerly known as TLI (Transport Logistics International); Honeywell, located at the uranium conversion site in Metropolis, Illinois; and USEC (United States Enrichment Corporation), located in Paducah, Kentucky and Piketon, Ohio.

The export license allows for the shipping of over 32 million kilograms, which is equivelant to about 71 million pounds, of uranium in the form of uranium hexafluoride to the Russian uranium import and export agency TENEX (Techsnabexport). Uranium hexafluoride is used both in nuclear bomb prodution, as well as nuclear energy.

Why is the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission allowing for the export of radioactive and extremely dangerous material to a supposed enemy of the U.S.?
