Having a stock trading strategy is just one important piece of becoming a profitable trader, applying it at the right time, in the right market, is just as important.

A popular saying withing the trading community is "A hide tide lifts all ships", and this is so true in regard to market breadth and singular stocks.

Trading stocks is all about probability, and trading with the trend of the overall stock market ensures probability is moved into your favour. Even a poor stock can turn profitable when the whole market is healthy, whereas a great selection can underperform due to the overall un-healthy weight of the market.
