REAL Old West Towns

I stumbled across this video on a friend's Facebook profile a few days ago. It is somewhat amateurish, but it does bring back fond memories!

Most of the images are from my hometowns, Buffalo Gap and Hot Springs, SD. Three of the photos came from nearby Fairburn, SD and Hermosa, SD to the north of Buffalo Gap. Amateur though it may be, he did a great job evoking memories of days gone by. Appropriately, the background music is from "The Waltons."

I like to think it is in the middle of somewhere, but where most people I don't care to be around would never travel. Works for me.

Just east of Buffalo Gap a few miles at the confluence of Beaver Creek with the Cheyenne River is the location of the infamous grizzly bear attack on famous Mountain Man Jedediah Smith. I have never been to the exact location yet, but intend to do so in the not too distant future. More on Mountain Man Jedediah Smith, below.
