In a staggering revelation, Multnomah County, home to the city of Portland, reported an expenditure of $84,000 on 'harm reduction' efforts. Far from achieving their advertised goal, these activities have been dubbed 'harm production', since they seem to promote the opposite outcome. Take Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, for example, who openly criticized this frivolous spending of resources. His voiced concerns led to considerable backlash against the county’s plans, effectively stopping them in their tracks. Yet the question remains – where did the money go?

Strikingly, a significant chunk of this budget went toward buying supplies. An astonishing 90,000 sheets of tin foil, over 55,000 pipes, and 31,000 straws were acquired for distribution among local drug users. The intent was clear: aid the addicts by providing them with clean tools, minimizing health risks associated with needle-sharing. However, the plan backfired when the public realized these supplies were indirectly encouraging...
