A Norwegian communist party leader has been forced to resign after stealing a pair of designer sunglasses from Oslo’s airport. Bjørnar Moxnes, whose Red Party currently holds eight seats in the Norwegian parliament, stole the Hugo Boss glasses in plain view while browsing, and was recorded by multiple angles on CCTV. Moxnes walked up to the glasses, tried them on, looked at himself in the mirror (presumably thinking ‘the only thing that would make me look cooler is doing crime’), put the glasses back on the shelf… then picked them back up and placed them in his luggage. He walked forward a few steps, and, pretending they were his glasses, put them in his pocket and left the store.

‘A lot of people have asked me how I could do something so stupid. I’ve asked myself that many times in recent weeks,’ Moxnes wrote on Facebook. ‘I don’t have an adequate explanation.’ Said lack of explanation, and his initial claims that it was an ‘accident’ despite video footage, forced his resignation, and a condemnation from new party leader Sneve Martinussen. ‘I’m both angry and disappointed,’ she said at a party conference.
