Iran’s Navy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) received a new long-range, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered cruise missile at a ceremony in Tehran on Tuesday, state-run Press TV reported. The domestically made missile named “Abu Mahdi” has a range of 1,000 kilometers (621 miles) with a high destruction power, can evade radars, and uses AI in its flight path software, Iran’s Minister of Defense Mohammad Reza Ashtiani claimed at the ceremony, according to Press TV. Iran’s announcement of the “Abu Mahdi” missile comes after the Pentagon said last Thursday it is deploying thousands of Marines and additional forces to the Middle East following recent Iranian attempts to seize commercial shipping vessels.
