The Sightings Of The "Winsted Wildman" Go Back As Far As The 1800's. Most Sightings Usually Occur In The Area Of The White Hills Of Shelton. The First Recorded Sighting Was On August 27, 1895, By The Town Selectman Riley Smith. Smith Was Out Picking Blueberries With His Pet, Bull Dog, Ned In The Area Of Colebrook When The Encounter Happened. Riley First Noticed The Creature, Then The Creature, Came Out Screamed And Scrambled Off At Lighting Speed. Both Smith And His Pet, Ned Were Paralyzed With Fear.
