The MLB trade deadline is right around the corner and an unexpected seller will be the New York Mets. The Mets not only aren't close to competing with the Atlanta Braves this season, they have fallen behind the Phillies and Marlins in the NL East. Part of the problem for the Mets has been the poor performances from highly paid veteran starting pitchers Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander. Verlander and Scherzer have both battled injuries and poor performances in the 2023 MLB season. Verlander coming off his AL Cy Young season with Houston looks to finally be showing his age at 40 years old. Scherzer has not only been hurt but even suspended early on. Other pieces the Mets may deal include Starling Marte and Francisco Lindor. What blame does Steve Cohen take in the Mets struggle of season?
