Street Artist Entertains People With Amazing Banjo Performance

Buskers are the best people in the world. Their arts can go anywhere from caricatures, clowning, comedy, dance, singing, fire skills, to storytelling or reciting poetry or prose, street art and ventriloquism. Buskers who play instruments usually play their own stuff, but sometimes they will accept requests from onlookers, who will then leave generous gratuities!

This young man has learned the lively art of the banjo and was more than happy to take requests. The owner of this video said: “I was walking past this young playing the banjo and I ask him could he play Dueling Banjos from the film Deliverance he said no problem."

The banjo is a four-, five- or six-stringed instrument with a thin membrane stretched over a frame or cavity as a resonator, called the head. The membrane, or head, is typically made of plastic, although animal skin is still occasionally but rarely used, and the frame is typically circular. Early forms of the instrument were fashioned by Africans in America, adapted from African instruments of similar design.

The modern banjo derives from instruments that had been used in the Caribbean since the 17th century by enslaved people taken from West Africa. Written references to the banjo in North America appear in the 18th century, and the instrument became increasingly available commercially from around the second quarter of the 19th century.
