Chapter 5: The Origin of Human Civilization

Some people erroneously claim that the Bible documents that the Planet Earth is only about 6000 years old, which is false. The Bible only documents that modern humans capable of civilization are about 6000 years old. Adam was the first modern human capable of human civilization. There may have been other humanoid beings created beforehand that were anatomically similar to modern humans but were not yet capable of the emotion, intellect, and will necessary for human civilization. Some people erroneously claim that the Bible documents that the flood of Noah covered the entire Planet Earth, which is false. The Bible only documents that that the flood of Noah covered all the land (earth) that modern humans inhabited at the time. The flood of Noah covered all the land that humanity inhabited. Human civilization lived in a localized region before the flood of Noah. Noah and his family were able to help region that recover quickly after the flood. Human civilization was then spread out across the Planet Earth after the flood. Flavius Josephus the Jewish Historian for the Roman Empire document evidence for a regional flood.

The family records in Genesis and the national records in Kings and Chronicles are incredibly precise down to the year. Therefore we can use these records preserved in the Bible to map out a timeline of all human history. The following is a timeline made assuming that all the documented records in the Bible are accurate.

Claudius Ptolemy was an ancient Greco-Egyptian writer known as a mathematician and astronomer who recorded some inaccurate historical dates. This Biblical timeline being accurate must be understood in context with the records of Ptolemy, the ancient amateur historian being inaccurate. The Biblical dates are recorded using the number of years after the creation of Adam. To calibrate these dates to the modern calendar, we can use the death of King Solomon.

Prophesy said that Cyrus would be the name of the ruler to make the proclamation to rebuild Jerusalem and rebuild the temple {Isaiah 44:28}.

While in captivity, Daniel understood from prophesy that the desolation of Jerusalem would last 70 years {Daniel 9:1-2}.
