As humans, we are hard-wired to focus on the negative aspects of situations. This comes from our need for self-preservation and awareness of potential danger; however, when this behavior becomes entrenched in our mindsets and outlooks, it can be incredibly destructive. A victim mindset is one in which we feel powerless and unable to make changes in our lives. It is a self-defeating attitude that can lead to depression, anxiety and low self-esteem.

The good news is that with awareness, we can overcome this mindset and replace it with an empowered outlook on life. Instead of viewing things in terms of what we cannot do, focus instead on what you CAN do; start small and build your way up. Acknowledge the areas of life where you have control, and make sure to take action on those things. Focus on what can be improved, rather than continually dwelling on the negatives and obstacles that stand in our way. It's important to recognize that we are capable of achieving great things with effort and dedication - no matter how uncertain or difficult the path ahead may seem. Our mindsets are incredibly powerful, and they can either be a source of strength or weakness - it's up to us to decide which one we choose.
