Share. Subscribe. The REAL Sun is: 1,651.29 miles away at the equator. The Moon IS: 1,550-1,600 on average on its circuit. Polaris " the central north star " is 6,589 miles above. These distances are found using Basic Trigonometry's " Angle of Elevation ". The Earth is a Flat surfaced disc of about 37K miles in radius.
