Where was Sanditon, the subject of Jane Austen's unfinished last novel? Scholars believe it is based on the seaside town of Worthing, where Austen lived in 1805 with her sister Cassandra and friend Martha Lloyd. In Worthing, the Austen sisters met entrepreneur Edward Ogle, who was intent on developing Worthing into a first-class resort. Devoting himself to the building of libraries, theatres and hotels, Austen captured some of Mr. Ogle in her character Mr. Tom Parker.
