How exactly did Michael Llewelyn Davies (1900-1921) and Rupert Buxton (1900-1921) die? Drowned in Sandford Lock in May 1921, the two young scholarly men were planning to go to Paris and Norway. What stood in their plans? Was it Davies' guardian J. M. Barrie, who insisted Michael was "The One"? Was it a suicide pact due to a premonition years earlier in Buxton's 1915 poem? Or was it simply an accidental drowning as the inquest ruled?
