On Monday, Israeli lawmakers voted in favor of limiting the power of judicial review within the high court system of Israel. The Knesset voted 64-0 on the first part of the judicial reform plan proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's conservative coalition. The leading members of the opposition boycotted the vote, allowing the legislation to pass in its original form, while many Israeli citizens have protested against the reform over the last few months. In addition, the vote comes after U.S. President Joe Biden called on Prime Minister Netanyahu, who was released from the hospital today, to not move forward with the legislation.
