Tomb Raider (2013)- No Commentary- The Father Figure Gets Axed in the Back, Litterally

Out of all possible ratings: Terrible, Bad, Average, Good, Great....

My rating, based upon my playthrough experience, is: Good!

Some areas of this game are better than others, for instance, the collectables are a distraction from a good story and the graphics are still amazing to this day with very solid controls to guide you along, even if the camera wobble is annoying. My 6700 XT couldn't run this game smoothly at 4k/60 with FXAA and all other settings maxed. So beware, just because it's 10 years old doesn't mean it will run on a potato. I do not recommend playing this on PS3 or 360. If you're going the console route, the PS4 and XBone versions are the way to go. The lighting in particular is amazing and the texture work isn't out of place at high resolution levels. The game can run consistently smoothly, which is always good. The graphics stood the test of time.

The gameplay is a mix of Uncharted on steroids mixed with a ton of old-school Tomb Raider collectibles, which IMO the game would be better without, or with less of. Playing as Lara, you will constantly be on the brink of death against nature and man. Brutality plays a big factor thematically, at some points coming close to Manhunt levels of violence, which the later games in the series shied away from for some reason. Yes, Lara's boobs are smaller than previous games. I don't think she will be able to use her current kit as a flotation device but they still look large for her frame. She is still a sexy gaming heroine in this entry. Women in games do NOT have to be ugly AF to be badass. They can be sexy and badass. It's not a binary thing. I, personally, would rather play as Lara than Abby from The Last of Us 2. She was nasty.
