Resetting a course in Moodle allows you to clear specific types of data from your course, effectively taking it back to a "start of term" state.

Steps:
1. Login to Moodle: As an administrator or a teacher with necessary permissions.
2. Navigate to your course: Click on the course you wish to reset.
3. Go to the course settings

In modern versions of Moodle (with Boost theme), click on the gear icon (⚙️) usually at the top right of the course main page. From the dropdown menu, click on 'Reset'.
In older versions or different themes, the path might slightly differ. You might find the 'Reset' option under the 'Course administration' tab or link.

On the course reset page, you'll see various options for what you want to reset. These can include:
1. General: Resets basic settings like the course start date.
2. Roles: Unenroll users based on their roles.
3. Gradebook: Delete grades in the course gradebook.
4. Groups: Remove groups and groupings.

User data: Clear various types of user data like forum posts, quiz attempts, assignment submissions, etc. This is where you can really clean out the course content related to users.
Check the boxes next to the items you want to reset. Make sure to be very careful with these options, especially when deleting user data, as this is irreversible.
Scroll down and click the 'Reset Course' button: After you click this button, Moodle will ask you to confirm because this action is irreversible. Once you've confirmed, Moodle will reset the course based on the options you selected.

Review the course: After the reset, go through the course to ensure everything looks as you intended. You may need to reconfigure some settings or add in content again if necessary.
