During a high-level ministerial engagement, chaired by Ruth Nankabirwa, Uganda's Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, the members successfully passed a resolution to establish a functional power trade module. This module will include an ultimate market operator and a market committee
The member countries within the Eastern Power Pool are currently in the final stages of harmonizing a regulatory framework for power trade among the nations. This collaborative effort aims to promote collective social and economic development by the year 2024.
The 13 member states in the Eastern African Power Pool have recently approved amendments to the founding memorandum of understanding, with the objective of achieving transnational power trade by the set date of 2024.
During a significant high-level ministerial engagement held in Kampala and chaired by Uganda's Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, Ruth Nankabirwa, all members reached a consensus on establishing an independent regulatory board. This board will be hosted by the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Uganda.
