Granary discovered in the city of the Roman Augustus

A granary belonging to the episcopal centre of the period was unearthed during the ongoing excavations in the ancient city of Sebaste in Uşak, founded by Augustus, the first emperor of Rome.
The excavations at the ancient city of Sebaste in the town of Selçikler in Sivaslı district of Uşak, which resumed last year after a 44-year break, are being carried out under the direction of Uşak Archaeological Museum.
Uşak University Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Archaeology faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emre Taştemür and Assoc. Dr. Münteha Dinç also provide scientific support to the activities here.
In the excavations in Sebaste, one of the most important cities of the Roman Period in Anatolia and the episcopal centre of the period, environmental cleaning and some arrangements were made in the Great Church and Small Church areas last year. This year, the granary (granarium) section, which is thought to belong to the Eastern Roman Empire period, was reached in the north of the Small Church.
