Super Double Dragon, known in Japan as Return of Double Dragon (リターン・オブ・双截龍 Ritān Obu Daburu Doragon?) (リターン・オブ・双截龍, Ritān Obu Daburu Doragon?) is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up game, released for the Super NES in 1 992. It was published by Technōs Japan in Japan and by Tradewest in North America and the PAL region. Super Double Dragon is the fourth episode of Double Dragon, following Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones for the NES. The game does not have an arcade version. The release was made specifically for the domestic market.
gameplay

As with previous episodes of the series, the player takes control of fighters Billy and Jimmy in their fight against the Shadow Warriors gang. The objective is to defeat all enemies, including a boss. The game consists of seven stages, which include a casino, an airport, a martial arts academy, a fight on top of a moving truck, a slum, a forest, and the boss's hideout.

In addition to punch, kick, and jump buttons, the player now has a guard button for blocking attacks. If the player hits the guard button, not only can they defend themselves against an enemy, they can also hold certain enemies, leaving them vulnerable to successive attacks. There is also an "Energy Dragon" under the life meter, which the player can fill by holding L or R. When the meter is filling up, the player can perform special attacks that vary depending on how much energy the player has accumulated, which includes a flying one. If the power gauge is completely full, the player will gain extra strength for a limited amount of time.

Super Double Dragon is one of the few games in the series where the protagonists Billy and Jimmy Lee were differentiated, not only in different hairstyles, but also in their combat abilities. Particularly, the two characters have different punches (in the Japanese version, Jimmy's roundhouse kick is also different).
