Originally billed as a Captain Marvel sequel, "The Marvels" took a questionable detour, featuring obscure characters that most fans couldn't care less about. Marvel's decision to skip over beloved comic book heroes has left everyone scratching their heads. And things don't get any better with the recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, where Marvel couldn't stop talking about girl power and female representation. We get it, Marvel, but shouldn't the focus be on making a great movie instead?

With underwhelming box office performances and less-than-stellar Disney+ shows, the stakes are high for "The Marvels." The excessive emphasis on identity politics and empowerment seems more like a marketing gimmick than a solid storytelling choice.
