Space Weather News | A Hotspot Turns Sunspot & Orbit Outlook 03.06.2019
We are beginning to calm down from some fast solar wind that has hit us over the past week along with some enhanced solar wind from a solar storm that nearly hit us as well. This week we have one more small burst of fast wind to get through, but it will likely only bump us back to storm conditions at high latitudes. Mid-latitudes should remain at unsettled conditions. We also are watching several hotspots on the Sun. One has grown rapidly enough to become a new sunspot and it is showing signs of the influence of solar cycle 25. Although not officially a cycle 25 sunspot, its magnetic polarity sure seems to be confused between the two. We will be watching this region closely and will update you in the next forecast if this region continues to grow. Get the latest on where aurora will be visible, learn how amateur radio and GPS reception is being affected, and see how near-Earth satellites are faring this week!
