The world’s biggest permafrost crater in Russia known as “Batagaika” is melting as the planet is gradually warming. Batagaika crater is a one-kilometre-long chunk of sunken land Russia's Far East region. The drone footage reveals the details of the depression in the region. The phenomenon began in the 1960s due to deforestation. After the forest surrounding the landform was cleared, the permafrost underground began to melt, causing the land to sink.
