Turtles are extremely beneficial to lakes and rivers, but very few eggs hatch and make it to maturity. This adorable little fellow is found as he claws his way out of the nest. A long journey to the nearest lake would make him a tasty meal for predators. This family decided to help him get to the weeds at the edge of the water to give him a better chance at survival. He doesn't need more than a minute to figure out how to hide in the grass. He's a natural swimmer and very graceful in the water. It's hard to imagine that this tiny turtle will live to over 100 years and will eat hundreds of pounds of decaying fish in his lifetime.
