Were guitars really cheaper in the 1960's? Here's what the numbers say.

I've always been under the impression that the most coveted guitars ever made were very easy to get your hands on back 60 years ago. I'm not sure why I thought this but I wanted to get the facts to find out once and for all if my dad paid less for his Les Paul at the time than I did when I bought mine at the same age. Who got the better deal? Today I put all doubt to rest.
