The world has witnessed several significant shocks to the global financial, market, and geopolitical systems since the advent of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine. One of the most significant issues pertains to the centrality of the US dollar, especially in terms of the role it plays to cement the USA- and associated financial/fiat currency power, and dominance, in the world economic system.

With the exit of Russia from SWIFT, and the pace at which Saudi Arabia, Iran, Brazil, China, India, and a number of other nations are exploring trade utilising national currencies, and alternative financial exchange platforms to SWIFT, it is clear that with BRICS in mind, questions on the future of the world financial system arises.

In this Blindspot we zoom in on a critical space wherein global power is not only projected, but wherein such power plays a critical role in the maintenance of the Bretton Woods, post WWII world order.
