Tanks and Self-Propelled Artillery: What's the Difference?

Beverly from Philadelphia asked me the difference between a Tank and a Self propelled gun.

The basic difference is one of purpose. Tanks need to be heavily armored against direct fire threats. They need to fire a flat-shooting round out to 4000-5000 meters.

Self-Propelled Artillery needs to shoot a large, heavy shell out to 25-40km and does not need to move as fast as a tank since it ideally stays in the rear.
