US deploys thousands of Marine forces to Middle East

The U.S. is deploying thousands of marines and additional forces to the middle east, according to an announcement from the Pentagon Thursday. The move is in response to recent Iranian attempts to seize commercial shipping vessels. Earlier this month, the U.S. stopped Iran from seizing two tankers in the Gulf of Oman, including one instance in which an Iranian vessel opened fire on a tanker. The Pentagon did not specify which forces would be deployed. But, the deployment will likely consist of three ships and approximately 24-hundred Marines.
