Mendicino 'lying or incompetent,' either way should go

Asked about the possibility of Marco Mendicino being uninformed of the transfer of 🇨🇦 Serial Killer Paul Bernardo, Pierre Poilievre said, “It's entirely Mr. Mendicino's fault, that he wasn't doing his job... If he didn't know, he's incompetent. If he did know, he's lying."

While many Canadians are starting to pay attention to Marco Mendicino's laundry list of deceptions and failures as Public Safety Minister, law abiding firearms owners know it all too well.

When the handgun ban legislation (Bill C-21) was first introduced, Mendicino told Parliament, Liberals had “a plan to eradicate gun violence once and for all.”

Upon review of the bill, Canadian handgun owners cried foul as the legislation primarily affected licensed gun owners and not criminals, a fact that Mendicino denied. In response, he told media he respected Canadian hunters and sport shooters and that Bill C-21 would not “target law-abiding gun owners.”

Fast forward to December 2022 when further restrictions, including bans on hunting and sporting rifles (and some shotguns) were added to the bill, via the controversial amendments G-44 & G-46. Mendicino again denied to news media that his government was banning hunting rifles saying, “We are not going to target those guns which are used conventionally for hunting.”

In February 2023, after months of mounting pressure from Canadians across the country, including many Indigenous communities, the federal government finally conceded, admitting some hunting guns were indeed affected by the legislation. The amendments, thought to have been partially influenced by several radical anti-gun organizations, such as Polysesouvient, Doctors for Protection from Guns, and the Coalition for Gun Control, were ultimately abandoned and withdrawn.

This is just one example of Mendicino misleading the Canadian public, though there are many if you look back. The Liberal Safety Minister has a serial-history of misleading Canadians and is a repeat offender when it comes to telling Canadians the truth.

It's time for him to go.
