Goodbye Big Flares, Hello Dust Storm Season on Mars | Space Weather News 07.29.2022
This Space Weather News forecast sponsored in part by Millersville University:

This week our Sun settles down a little bit, but there is still plenty of activity. A big flare player fires off a goodbye kiss right before rotating off the Sun's west limb, but since then, no new big flare players have rotated into view. We have had two solar storms launched, however, they are going both east and west of Earth and should not cause more than unsettled conditions. In addition we have several pockets of fast solar wind coming in the first week of August and so aurora photographers, especially at high latitudes have the chance for some shows. Amateur radio operators must wait another week or so for more bright regions to rotate into view and for solar flux to increase. Until then radio propagation will stay in the marginal range on Earth's dayside. However, GPS operators will enjoy better reception conditions this week, even at low latitudes. Learn the details of this week's activity and get an update on the dust storms occurring on the Red Planet.
